Below a few words of clarification:
The board contains two Micronas audio/video decoders, two NEC MPEG encoders, and the dual channel Micronas PCI Express audio video capture IC (code named nGene).
The board belongs to the category of so called ADD2+ or media expansion boards. This is a alternative usage model of the PCI Express x16 slot for simultaneous audio/video capture functions as well as HD TV out, hence with a single upgrade card one can enable an Intel Lakeport chipset based motherboard to do both: audio/video capture and high definition video out (i.e. 1080i) via the DVI connector on the card.
